Our Complete List of Sci-fi and Fantasy TV Shows this September

From all new shows to all new seasons, September is starting out to be one of the best times to be sitting on the couch with a remote control on hand (or a TiVo keeping track of things). Regardless of how you’re catching the latest episodes, what matters is not missing out on a single one. So here’s our list of upcoming (and currently running) shows for everyone to keep track of (in order of appearance).

September 13 - Haven Season 4

This one started LAST WEEK. If you missed the first ep, there is still plenty of time to catch up. Haven is back with an all new season. Season 3’s cliffhanger left us all wondering what on Earth was going on with “the Barn”, as well as a few critical plot details revealing who is behind which group (that thing with Vince being the head was pretty fun). Now, the new ep starts up with Duke taking the limelight and Nathan being, uh, all beardy and emo. Anyway, there’s an all new character, Jennifer, who seems to be everyone’s only link to what happened inside the barn. Lastly, good old Audrey seems to have completely lost her memories. She is now a bartender named Lexie, and yes, strange events still follow her around.

September 16 - Sleepy Hollow

So what happens when you bring Ichabod and the headless horseman to modern day New York? Apparently, this is it, and it quickly evolves into seriously gruesome fun as the headless horseman realizes that guns have been improved quite a lot over the past two hundred years. In the meanwhile, Ichabod is completely out of place and not in his element –which makes for great entertainment. All new character Sheriff Abbie Mills steals the show as Ichabod’s new buddy in his quest to stop the Horseman from bringing all sorts of creepy doom to our world.

September 20 - The Neighbors Season 2

There’s always room for more alien fun, and the second season of The Neighbors will have us catching up with the Weavers and the Bird-Kersees as they try to mix together more alien viewpoints with human sensibilities. Last season ended with some important toast messages being tossed away, but that does not mean that the danger has passed –everyone is simply going to be oblivious to it.

September 24 - Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

One of the most anticipated TV shows this month. Agent Coulson is back in business as he brings his perfectly tailored suit, can-do attitude, and yes, familiarity of handling superhuman beings to the service of SHIELD. With the success of Avengers, it comes as to no surprise that plenty of comic book fans are happy with his return –and the fact that he supposedly “died” in the movie makes us want to see how Whedon intends to explain bringing him back. Naturally, the bigger question on everyone’s minds is: which Marvel heroes will be making a cameo in the series?

September 26 - Big Bang Theory Season 7

Sheldon and Leonard are back! And with last season’s “relationships now stable” ender, we’re hoping that the jokes focus back on the cast’s nerdy activities as opposed to how socially-dysfunctional they are (with the exception of Raj more or less), and how much they needed to have relationships. There’s a reason why Soft Kitty and Bazinga have become famous jokes, let’s hope the show gets that kind of humor back.

September 29 - Once Upon a Time Season 3

Peter Pan sounds like an all new bad guy as the crew decides to seek out the lost boys and find Emma’s kid. This also leads to Hook playing a bit of an anti-hero role even more as he’s the one the is leading the gang to Neverland. That aside, Mulan and Sleeping Beauty also have a major quest on their hands to recover that prince-guy from last season, and it will be nice seeing how the two different adventures eventually overlap (again). We’re also expecting a bit of a backdoor starter for the Mad Hatter as the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland spinoff will be starting in October.
